The Tool Box's Top 10 (11) Beatles Songs

When the Tool Box was first founded by Tool Bag Productions, it was said that there was no way that we could ever compete with the likes of Rolling Stone, Entertainment Weekly, blah blah blah. Well guess what? When word leaked that we were compiling a top 10 list of the top Beatles songs, we were flooded with e-mails, phone calls, and text messages saying why they should be on the panel. Unfortunately for them, we were only able to pick the top five panelists. Here they are:

Brandon Tessoff - Bassist for Subjective and About Face. His jaw is crooked. Currently the co-founder and visionary for Tool Bag Productions.

Chris Hoelscher - Music elitist with a receding hairline. Played lightweight football in 8th grade. Currently the co-founder and mastermind behind Tool Bag Productions.

Dave Distelrath - Has seen Kid Rock more times than he has fingers to count with. Currently working on his sock tan in Florida.

Joe Serra - Beach Boys fanatic who once played piano at a bar. Despite his name, he is not your ordinary Joe.

Joe Thomas - Sells tickets through ebay and is a master at the art of gambling. Despite his name, he is not your ordinary Joe.

All right, that's enough of the panelists, let's get on with the list, shall we?

10. (tie) The Long And Winding Road
While My Guitar Gently Weeps

9. I Want You (She's So Heavy)

8. Hey Jude

7. Tomorrow Never Knows

4-6. (tie) Penny Lane
Yesterday
I Saw Her Standing There

3. Help!
Not just the title track on the soundtrack that accompanied their second feature film, "Help!" is one of the best examples of the Beatles vocal range. Despite being considered a part of the "Early Beatles", "Help!" was a starting point for the great artistic achievements that were soon to come.

2. A Day In The Life
Although Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band is often referred to as Paul's masterpiece, the epic that wraps it up is one of John's finest moments. This is unquestionably one of the creative peaks for the band.

1. Let It Be
Through all the in-fighting and the tension building from within the band, Paul was able to write what may be one of the most beautiful songs ever written, and our number one Beatles song of all time. Featured on the album of the same name, also their "final" album, it was a fitting way to wrap up the career of the most important band in the history of rock and roll.

For those of you keeping track at home that's...

2 From Let It Be
2 From Help!
1 From Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Heart's Club Band
1 From Please Please Me
1 From Magical Mystery Tour
1 From Revolver
1 From Abbey Road
1 From The White Album
1 From Hey Jude

Kick Butt Valentine's Day Mix

Since this has sort of just turned into my own website, I figured I'd start putting up random things that amuse me. I, along with thousands of others, am a big fan of making mixes (as Hoelscher knows as well as anyone thanks to Butt Nuggets), so I decided to make a Valentine's Day mix for my very special someone. Here it is:

1. "Foxey Lady" Jimi Hendrix
2. "Do Ya" Electric Light Orchestra
3. "You're My Best Friend" Queen
4. "Miracle To Me" The Black Crowes
5. "Do You Want To Know A Secret" The Beatles
6. "Be My Baby" The Ronettes
7. "Uncertain Times" The Raveonettes
8. "Stand Inside Your Love" Smashing Pumpkins
9. "The Pledge" Brendan Benson
10. "A Message" Coldplay
11. "Mandocello" Cheap Trick
12. "Baby Love" The Supremes
13. "She's A Sensation" The Ramones
14. "Unchained Melody" The Righteous Brothers
15. "You've Got Her In Your Pocket" The White Stripes
16. "Love Like A Bomb" Oasis
17. "My Best Friend" Weezer
18. "You're So Good To Me" The Beach Boys
19. "When My Baby's Beside Me" Big Star
20. "You Baby" The Ronettes
21. "Electrolite" R.E.M.
22. "MFEO: Part 1 - Made For Each Other, Part 2 - You Can Breathe" Jack's Mannequin

Yes it's cheesy, but I find it to be effective as well. Feel free to steal it, all none of you reading this.

Brandon's Super Bowl XL Preview

Due to the fact that this website is a joke, I'm going to keep this short...not that anyone cares.

Lately it seems that the Super Bowl isn't really about the game itself. In all honesty it seems as if it is just an excuse for idiots to get drunk, say how bad the commercials were this year, and watch halftime shows that don't really make much sense (the Stones in Motown?). But for a small percentage of us, there is still hope. This year's Super Bowl matchup is everything a title game should be, no matter how boring Skip Bayless claims it to be. Representing the NFC, you have the Seattle Seahawks. A team that started off a tad slow, but steamrolled over almost every team it faced on it's way to a top seed in the NFC. Yes, it was against the easiest schedule in the NFL, but how "easy" are games in the NFL anyways? Shaun Alexander won the MVP trophy, but still no one cares because they aren't from New York or Chicago or some other huge market. The Seahawks are a very worthy team, and would make a fine champion, however I just don't think their first trip to the big game will be a success. Instead, I feel that the Steelers are going to walk out of Ford Field victorious. No, I'm not picking them because of the whole "Jerome Bettis's hometown destiny" angle, I'm picking them because there is no team playing better football right now. They took the three top teams in the AFC, all of which could have been victorious in the Super Bowl (OK, minus the Bengals), and made them look like they didn't belong. Year after year, head coach Bill Cowher has had his team ready to play every Sunday, and this Sunday will be no different. I'm not going to get into the X's and O's because I'm not feeling that inspired to write for a site that no one cares about, but at the end of February 5th, 2006, the Steelers will bring back the Lombardi Trophy to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania with 31 teams gunning at them in September.

Predicted Score: Pittsburgh Steelers 30, Seattle Seahawks 24.
