Great American Bash Recap

I'm sure no one is upset that this is a few days late.

1. Matt Hardy vs. MVP
This was a solid opener, but could have been better. I think if they give them about 15-20 minutes at SummerSlam, we could have ourselves a nice match. MVP won by pinfall.

Unofficial Rating (out of 5): 3.25

2. Cruiserweight Invitational
This was a solid match that the crowd seemed to be into. Hornswoggle gets the surprising victory and the internet is outraged. Like this title means anything.

Unofficial Rating (out of 5): 3

3. Carlito vs. Sandman
Well, the cane didn't even really get used in this match. Not sure why this was even on the card. Carlito wins by pinfall.

Unofficial Rating (out of 5): .75

4. Candice Michelle vs. Melina
I think it's time to give up on this feud. Candice retained in the second snoozer in a row.

Unofficial Rating (out of 5): .25

5. Umaga vs. Jeff Hardy
This one definitely woke the crowd up, as they were behind Jeff Hardy all the way. Exciting match, even if it wasn't a technical classic. Umaga has really turned out to be a pretty solid heel. It looks like Jeff will be getting the re-match next month.

Unofficial Rating (out of 5): 3.75

6. John Morrison vs. CM Punk
I like these two guys a lot, but it just seems like the crowd cares less and less about ECW each week. At one point, CM Punk would have been a huge addition to Smackdown or Raw, but now I think his run in ECW is hurting him. He'll still be huge, just not as quickly as he could have. Morrison retains.

Unofficial Rating (out of 5): 2

7. Randy Orton vs. Dusty Rhodes
This one really ended abruptly and it was not the bloodfest I was expecting. Two disappointing matches in a row. Orton gets the expected victory.

Unofficial Rating (out of 5): 1.25

8. Great Khali vs. Batista vs. Kane
Well, we knew Kane wouldn't win this one, so of course he was the one to get pinned. This sets up the highly anticipated matchup of Khali vs. Batista. Oh boy. However, this was slightly better than expected.

Unofficial Rating (out of 5): 1.5

9. John Cena vs. Lashley
This was a very solid main event that was a lot of fun. I'm not much of a fan of Lashley and this didn't do much to make me like him more, as it still seemed as Cena carried him to a good match. I'm glad the belt stayed on Cena.

Unofficial Rating (out of 5): 3.75

Overall Rating: 3 (out of 5)

There were 4 matches with a 3 or higher, but nothing over a 4. There were 2 disappointing matches that could have made this a very good show, and a couple that were duds. However, this was probably the best show since Backlash.
