One Night Stand Recap

Let's take a look at last night's show:

1. Umaga vs. Jeff Hardy

I feel as if this was more of a Raw match, as opposed to what could have been a great matchup. I really hate how Umaga keeps on losing. Wasn't it only a few months ago that it took multiple finishing moves for him to get pinned? Hardy wins via trick photography.

Unofficial Rating: 2 (out of 5)

2. Big Show vs. John Morrison vs. Chavo Guerrero vs. CM Punk vs. Tommy Dreamer

This was definitely more fun than most people expected. They played the stipulation nicely and it made for an entertaining 9 minutes. Big Show wins. I can guarantee his match against Kane will be nowhere near as good as this one.

Unofficial Rating: 3 (out of 5)

3. John Cena vs. JBL

This was definitely a step up from their Judgment Day matchup, but not even in the same league as their Judgment Day 2005 match. This had some good moments, but the chemistry is still not there. I supported the JBL return, but so far he has not had good chemistry with Jericho, Finlay or Cena. If I'm not mistaken, those are three of the top workers that the company has. Hmm... Cena wins by a blood capsule in the mouth.

Unofficial Rating: 2.25 (out of 5)

4. Melina vs. Beth Phoenix

It was nice to see a good, solid women's wrestling match. This was not anything mind blowing, but it was good. Beth Phoenix looked good and her and Mickie should have a good matchup later this month.

Unofficial Rating: 2.75 (out of 5)

5. Batista vs. Shawn Michaels

It's no secret that this is the best storyline in the WWE right now. This match wasn't the classic I was hoping for, but it continued telling the story well. It should be interesting to see where they go next. Batista wins.

Unofficial Rating: 3.25 (out of 5)

6. Randy Orton vs. Triple H

This match was going along well until the whole injury, so it really isn't fair to give it a bad grade. That was a pretty nasty bump that Orton took, no question about that. The injury may have come at a good time for him as well. Triple H retains his title.

Unofficial Rating: 2.75 (out of 5)

7. Edge vs. Undertaker

As most people thought, this was the match of the night. The big surprise is that Undertaker got thrown through 4 tables and lost. I was curious to see if he would take a big bump and he most certainly did. This is not the best ladder match ever, but it had a little different flow to it and despite the interference, it was a very good main event. Edge is your new champion.

Unofficial Rating: 4 (out of 5)

Three MVP's for One Night Stand

1. Undertaker - He took one huge bump and did himself proudly despite losing the title and his "career".

2. Edge - When was the last time this guy wasn't awesome?

3. Big Show - Yes, Orton's injury was worse, but the pictures of the Big Show afterwords are pretty gross.

Overall: 77%

This was just slightly worse than Judgment Day and I think that's partly due to me having higher expectations for this show. Nothing was a huge letdown, but I was expecting Umaga/Hardy and Batista/HBK to be a little better. The ladder match is great, the rest is solid.
