Judgment Day Recap

Judgment Day would have to be quite the show to top the last couple WWE pay-per-view offerings. Could they possibly out perform Backlash and WrestleMania? Let's take a look.

1. Carlito vs. Ric Flair
This match has been a couple months in the making and it was a decent opener. The crowd is always into Flair. I think Carlito looked decent, but I was hoping for a better performance. Flair wins via a Figure Four, which basically never happens anymore.

2. Lashley vs. Vince McMahon/Shane McMahon/Umaga
This was hardly a match as Lashley destroyed Shane, but due to technicalities, did not win the ECW championship. Looks like we'll see Vince/Lashley at One Night Stand. Yippee.

3. CM Punk vs. Elijah Burke
This was my most anticipated match, as it features two of my current stars in a rare pay-per-view appearance. I think they did a solid job and got the crowd into it at the end. There were a few sloppy parts, but otherwise a fine match. CM Punk gets the big ppv victory.

4. Randy Orton vs. Shawn Michaels
Once again, this was hardly a match, as it was stopped due to Michaels passing out. This is very reminiscent of the mid-90s angle Michaels did. I guess he's going to get surgery on the knee, hopefully he's not out too long.

5. Hardyz vs. Cade + Murdoch
This angle has really been developing nicely and I'd have to say this was my favorite match of the night. Was it your typical Hardy match? Yes, but Cade and Murdoch were feeling it too. Hardyz get the victory over the Texans.

6. Edge vs. Batista
These guys didn't have much chemistry, which is too bad because Batista was actually on a roll. Edge wins via a rollup in a disappointing matchup.

7. MVP vs. Chris Benoit
This one was a little disappointing as well. This feud has been possibly my favorite feud of the year as it has slowly built into something special. MVP gets the sweep in the best of 3, which is something you don't see too often.

8. John Cena vs. Great Khali
You know what makes me mad? When people fricken cheer for Khali over Cena. It's not cool to hate Cena. Is his gimmick great? Nope. Is he as good of a wrestler as Chris Benoit or Shawn Michaels? Nope. Does he always give 150%? You better believe it. The thing that's even worse is, he is essentially the Hulk Hogan of this era (in terms of how they book him). There's just one main difference, he's 100 times better than Hogan! The same idiots that cheer Hogan, boo Cena. Name me some great Hogan matches. Hogan/Andre? Terrible match, just memorable for the slam and the setting. Hogan/Warrior. Nothing special. Hogan/Savage. Good, but Savage carried the match. With Cena, I can name countless classics. Cena/Michaels (from Raw and WM23), Cena/Edge (multiple times), Cena/Bradshaw (No Mercy), he even had a classic with Umaga at Royal Rumble. I am in no way Cena's biggest fan. I don't think he's unbelievable. But I think he is a darn good entertainer and I typically look forward to his matches. This match, I had no interest going in and somehow he pulled off something better than a 0 with Khali. Hogan never could have, Cena Haters. Start pouring your hate on someone who deserves it, like say Batista.

I can't say this was a great show, but it was never boring. I'll give it the average rating for now, but we'll see when I catch it on 24/7.
